The 2020 Indycar season has by far been the most interesting season of my career. I assure you it’s not because of the racing. Figuring out how to personally navigate and stay creative during a global pandemic are stories i’m sure i’ll tell for a lifetime. The uncertainty and curiosity of all situations in these times is mind numbing, it’s also hard sometimes to focus on the task at hand knowing the world we occupy today and it’s issues. I’m sure some folks see right through it and buckle down, I think I think to much. I must also mention the viewfinder is fogging with every breath. It is amazing how many of these photos I can hardly see while taking.
I’m sure it is probably good for my mental health to get back to doing what I consider normal. I guess I wish it just weren’t so lonely right now. The reduced fan count has made me miss the occasional heckling from fans “hey dumbass, move I can’t see” or the drunk staple “HEYY TAAKE MY PHOHO”.
At the current time there are not many people in the media center either. Most of the time the only people I have to bond with are Joe and Jones, very thankful for those guys. It’s also been hard for me to gauge my personal growth with photography. We have such a gap in races and limited on track time these days.
I think I’ve done a fair balance of shooting some of my old staple shots with finding a few new tricks. Here are my favorite images from our first four races of this 2020 COVID Indycar season.
