I don’t make it back to Bluffton, IN much these days. My mother and sister moved there in 1996 after my parents split. I live roughly 2 hrs from there (for now). Traveling all summer for work makes me want to stay put here in Indy when i’m not traveling. No longer residing there for almost 12 years has since given me a new view on the town. Not much has changed and it’s interesting to see the old places and things I once put so much time and interest into. Everything now seems so empty. Has it changed or have I ? Both ? Somewhere in their I can see past memories and energy that remains.
Sundown, Christmas evening in the diner.
Stopped at Walmart
Our first house in Bluffton.
Mom made under 30,000 a year with two children back in 1997. Rent was $285 and the place was a dump. Such a dump they tore it down. We got by just fine. All that remains is an empty lot.
The Barn!
House two we occupied in town. Most of my Jr High years were spent in this house. It seemed huge as a kid. I looked in the window (It’s for sale) couldn’t believe how small it is!
Moving on up.
Mom was so dam proud of this house. I wish I had a photograph of her in front of it back when it was really something. We lived her all through high school until she bought her place out in the country. Rumor is new owners exploded a meth lab in the rear of the home.
My Hoop.
I swear to you I still dream about shooting on this thing. I’d love just 15 more mins (come in for dinner). I put a new black and white net on it in 2005-ish. Some of it’s left. Along with someones junk truck.
Friends
This was the childhood home of a best friend. I spent a ton of time and have great stories here.
His hoop.
Lot’s of 1 on 1 battles fought here.
Hot Dogs
We stopped in for a beer
What else are you going to do Christmas Eve? Family will just drive you to drinking anyway.
Johnny
They say you can’t pick your father. I guess I kind of did.
Goldmine.
Let's see em!
I bet your mom has done weird shit in here.
Clear message.
Paper on the floor.
You can read the paper here while you go.
Think i'll just stay here and drink.
Waylon Jennings plays in the background.
Grandma turned 89 this year.
Put it out there by the truck.
Truck Stuff
It's fine in the yard.
The old ball card shop!
I spent every dime I ever had here.
Decks
Lot’s of tire maintenance done over the years at Decks.
Green
Have always loved the green touch on the wall downtown Bluffton.
Had to stop in to see old friends.
I spent a lot of time over at the Ivins place. Hell I even lived with them for a while.
Luke & Dan
Let’s go up to the Stag bar for a couple!
She kept us well hydrated all evening.
We had a great time until Andy got to drunk and got us kicked out! What a night.
